if its a sb live 5.1 card then its really easy to get it going.

I'd use apt-get to install the alsa drivers.

you can get apt-get from [/url][url=http://apt.freshrpms.net]http://apt.freshrpms.net There are a few howtos on here on working with apt.

Then you'd run

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install alsa-driver alsa-utils alsa-lib
alsaconf

that should load up your sound drivers

is it by any chance the Live 5.1 modified by dell? I had to download the drivers at www.opensound.com

it worked and now I have sound, the bad thing is the drivers are commercial. I didn't try alsa because opensound.creative.com suggest opensound.com
