The first hit on google gave us

 

Which is actually quite good, though its a little dry in bits. Basically its a "virtual" library (and therefore you cannot find it anywhere) that actually points to the kernel, the idea is to speed up system calls.

 

It only exists with the 2.6 kernel. If you are getting errors about "cannot find" etc, it is possible if you have packages that are built for 2.6 but running on a 2.4 kernel.

 

Upgrade is the only real path.
