Xchat background - Oroshi - 2003-12-19

you can choose the colours background, but you can select the "transparent" so here i will tell you how:

open the xchat, in the top menu that have: X-Chat IRC Server Settings Windows and Help.

Click "Settings", then click "Preferences". Under the "Interface", you'll see a "Text box". go there. there is a check box and written "Transparent background" tick the box, then click "ok"

Now your background of xchat will become a transparent.

Thats the tip for xchat.

Enjoy!

I would love to say that I like X-chat but I do not. That's a great tip tho.

What I use for transparentcy is irssi with the aid of gnome-terminal or eterm. For gnome-terminal here is my setup under fluxbox.

Edit ~/.fluxbox/menu

Code:
[submenu] (IRC)
       [exec] (xchat) {xchat}
       [exec] (irssi) {gnome-terminal -x irssi}

and then edit your profile from the menu. <Edit> <Profiles> "Choose the profile you wish to edit" The [Effects] tab there is a "transparent" checkbox. Check that and you are done. You can edit the contrast at the bottom.

When done, right click on the gnome-terminal and select "hide menubar"

Wala.
