While I'm here, may as well update this post. Fedora 13 x86_64, not much has changed, just evolved I think. Theme is edited, I've changed to AWN from Gnome-Do. I still use Compiz but have disabled wobbly windows and a few other things, I still use a number of animated effects though. I have an ASUS Xonar DS, because of this I required Kernel 2.6.34 which is not yet released for Fedora 13, as you will see its working well. Desktop: Gnome, running an updated version of the conky script from above. AWN, and an updated theme. Google Chrome: I've dropped Firefox, I was never happ

  3. Hello guys, how are you all doing ? Anyway, I upgraded to Fedora 13 from 12 but instead of using yum I actually made use of a Fedora tool called preupgrade. It is very easy to use, # yum update # yum install preupgrade python-urlgrabber # preupgrade You will get a gui (cli version available), it downloads the required files, asks you to reboot, then you install from anaconda. Maybe worth a try. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/PreUpgrade http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PreUpgrade
  4. I did grab that, the README says its designed for Ubuntu. I may give it a go later but have a feeling it will use apt-get to grab its needed packages.
  5. I was excited to give this a try, but I can't seem to find links to the source, just Ubuntu links Anyway, nice write up. I will look forward to more of your reviews.

I was on a mission to only add screen shots for even number Fedora releases! For you I'll make an exception Anyweb Truth be told, real life has had me busy and just as its settling back down, I'm coming down with a cold Desktop with Gnome-Do showing: Desktop, Widget Factory, Nautilus and System Monitor: Spinning Cube:
  7. I once had the counterstrike source games running under wine / cedega. I think I may have posted a screenshot here. Been a while since i did it but if I remember correctly you have to start the game from cli and look for any missing .dll's, google the dll name and you should get a download link. Copy it to your ~.wine/c/windows/system or system32 dir and it should get you further, I think it may have been missing fonts too... http://fedorasolved.org/gaming-solutions/installing-steam-using-wine ^ maybe that link will help. If not, just ask me if you get any errors.
  8. I use the first Red Hat guide, have used local DNS cache for a while now, or at least since my ISP had major DNS issues and I found out my google serach wasn't loading 8 out of 10 times due to OpenDNS redirects (grrr...). Good post hybrid. PS: I think the Firefox Fasterfox plugin does some DNS caching.

be my guest and do up a mock logo please hehe, I'm no artist but here you go. Please don't look too close at the edges, my clone, smudge and general gimp skills are lacking.

One with the 2009 Linux Kernel logo would be cool. http://lwn.net/Articles/323966/ Picture: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_E2tJnrV_I64/ScE50948gHI/AAAAAAAAABk/9L_wYatqYJc/s1600-h/tuz.png
  11. Strange, I guess it must be an issue with RPMFusion. You will simply have to install and ignore the checks until we either figure out what's wrong, or things get fixed. # su -c "yum install --nogpgcheck cairo-dock"
  12. I just noticed a post about this over at Fedora forums. Seems to be an issue but I'm not sure why. Everything is working for me. Can you tell me what the following command shows; # yum repolist Mine looks like this: yum repolist Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit repo id repo name status fedora Fedora 11 - x86_64 enabled: 16,577 fusion Compiz Fusion reposi
  13. Wow, it looks great. I'm going exploring.
  14. Your missing the public keys, it should sort that for you but I think it could be an issue with Fedora 11 being stuck in limbo between Rawhide and official 11 release. Try, su -c "rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-*" Then try install the dock with the command. su -c "yum install cairo-dock"<!--c2--></div><!--ec2--> @ Anyweb, wow your 10 year old kid getting on with Fedora. I'm impressed.
  15. Its in the RPM Fusion repo. Install RPM Fusion, su -c 'rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm' Then install cairo-dock su -c "yum install cairo-dock"
