  1. Thank you so much! Good ol' yum. It worked beautifully, and I am typing to you from Firefox 2.
  2. How embarrassing. Eight years ago, I had sysadmin powers at my university and knew my way around unix backward and forward. Now I've installed Fedora Core 6 and I'm still relying on the GUI to take care of most of my business. At present, I'm trying to install Firefox 2.0.0.1. I un-tarred the compressed file and put it into a directory, /home/jennifer/firefox. That should be enough, right? Well, I execute "./firefox &" in the console window while in that directory, and ... Firefox 1.5.0.9 invariably runs. All I can guess is that in spite of explicitly stipulating that I wanted to run
