  1. Way back in the good ol' days, when the intarwebz was still like the wild west, I quite enjoyed some activities which included the use of apps such as nmap and the like...Scan applications. Given the time and my younger age, it was in all interests to be "eLiTe", and everyone knows you can't be fully l33t without an x in your name somewhere (lol). Hence: Sxan The RR comes from riding motorcycles, I was riding a CBR900RR at the time. Hence: SxanRR
  2. Another thing you may want to try would be running SuSE in VMWare. That will let you install it as if you were installing on a new machine with nothing on it. Recently I installed SuSE 10.2 on VMWare 5.5.x and it was flawless. Everything worked great and I was even a little surprised at how well it worked. Just something else to try.
  3. Just a word of advice... between SuSE 10.1 and 10.2 there were big bug fixes. I strongly suggest going to 10.2 before spending a ton of time on your install. YaST / Zen bugs were fixed resulting in much faster loading of software and eliminated unnecessary conflict warnings and such. Overall 10.2 is MUCH better and nicer to use than even 10.1. Aside from that, the SuSE site has a list of repositories that you can use for YaST. Here's a link to OpenSUSE list... http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories Hope that helps and enjoy! ~SxanRR

    Sound problem

Hey, not sure if you've seen this yet, but I believe you need to make sure you install support for that ice driver. Check this post out and I hope it helps make a bit more sense.... http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-p...;module=ice1712 I would just guess that by default, SuSE does not install the support for those cards. I use SuSE myself and I know that alot of times, while everything that is a "normal" everyday type app will work perfect, as soon as you leave the "normal" world, thats when ya gotta start diggin a bit. ~SxanRR
