Dear Internet,

I just installed Tomato firmware on my Buffalo Airstation G54 router. My goal is to use it in wireless client mode to give wireless Internet access to an old PC that doesn't have a wireless card. To that end I configured it according the directions at [Wifi-planet.com][1]. But it's not working.

The Tomato "status" is perpetually "Renewing..." and I can't access the Internet (see attached screen grab). You guys think you can tell me what I've done wrong?

Much thanks in advance!
I decided to try and install fedora 16 xfce on my netbook and I got it installed. However it wasn't able to detect the wireless so I installed the driver. It's showing up when I run lspci but seems like it's not loaded cuz my network manager isn't detecting anything and when I run ifconfig I have no wlan0 showing up.
I have no idea wjhere to start trouble shooting my problem.

My wireless card is able to detect wireless signals but I can not connect to them. I get a pop up window that asks me to enter the security passkey. I am sure I am entering the right one, I double checked the router security settings through a wired connection. However, the icon whirls around for a few seconds and then gives me the same pop up window again asking for the passkey. I can not connect to open networks either.

I am using Fedora 13 and this developed after recent updates from about two weeks ago.
My Fedora installation no longer detects automatic wireless networks. A little network icon appears in the notification area and usually a drop-down list indicates all of the available wireless access points. Now, none of that appears. The only thing that appears now is "Wired Network" greyed out in the drop-down menu. If I plug in an ethernet cable, it detects it automatically.
hi guys, im just starting linux (well, not JUST starting) and i want to get my wireless working. i went to linuxwireless.org but didnt see the name of my card on the list. but, when i download the windows driver from the net, use my usb to get it onto my computer and put the .inf and .sys files into /home/wireless (i havent set up a user account yet, so im root) , and i do ndiswrapper -i /home/wireless/<something>8180.inf, it gives me no output, but when i do ndiswrapper -l, it says:

<something>8180 : invalid driver!

The driver im trying to use worked on windows 2000, so i dont know why its invalid. my asante al1611 probably just isnt supported in linux (its a PCMCIA (or whatever its called) device), but, if theres a solution, thnx in advance.
So I have Debian installed on my laptop, and I was able to get the madwifi driver working for my Atheros AR5008x (aka AR5418) So anywhere there it is sitting at ath0, but network manager the little dohicky up top doesn't want to play, there's only 3 options, wired network, configure something, and about, the wired network and the configure are greyed out, because I'm not connected(trying to use the wireless card) and it's not working,

I tried a few other apps to test out where the problem was, one even went as far to use my wireless card to scan for nearby networks, but I wasn't able to connect to them thru that program, anyway anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

hi. having some problem with getting my new pc to connect to internet.

i am using Slax 6.0.7.

okay, it goes like this.

slax finds my wlan card, but doesn't find any networks.

when i give myself a IP in "Set IP address(network-conf)" i can scan for networks and i find the network im looking for.

but when i fill inn the network name, interface (wlan0), hook the 'use encryption' (and put the password in the KEY 1 box, and choose restricted) in KWiFiManager i still don't get no connection. i still get the box who shows all the networks i can connect to, but its not possible to push the 'switch network' button.

how do i fix this?

thank for all help.

hi guys, i've Fedora 8 installed on this computer and i setup the wireless card on it yesterday by doing as follows

after doing that I added a new wireless connection in system-config-network and gave it an ip address of 192.168.0.3

i then activated it and all was cool, for a while, after an hour or so (don't know yet) all internet conectivity would die, i couldn't even ping my smoothwall (192.168.0.1)

note: on this same machine using a dell truemobil 1150 pcmcia card it worked 100% so maybe a broadcom firmware issue ?

here's what things look like when the internet dies
hi guys, i've Fedora 8 installed on this computer and i setup the wireless card on it yesterday by doing as follows

after doing that I added a new wireless connection in system-config-network and gave it an ip address of 192.168.0.3

i then activated it and all was cool, for a while, after an hour or so (don't know yet) all internet conectivity would die, i couldn't even ping my smoothwall (192.168.0.1)

note: on this same machine using a dell truemobil 1150 pcmcia card it worked 100% so maybe a broadcom firmware issue ?

here's what things look like when the internet dies
Hello.

I read through this thread ( https://www.linux-noob.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3277 ) trying to get my 300n card working in Fedora 8 using NDISWRAPPER but fell short and can't tell why.

Here are the steps I did in order and with as much detail as possible, but in the end I had no results.

Ideas?

So I installed NDISWRAPPER v.1.5.2

I downloaded the .inf files from linksys for the 300n and unpacked then in my home directory.

One thing that seperated my system from the pointed thread above where I got my howto from, my lsusb gave no real hint it saw the Linksys device.

Best guess is that according to sites found via Googling that the US version of the card uses Broadcom chipsets, not Atheros, so possible the last device listed is the 300n.

Here is a paste from the terminal of the install, and after I see no wlan0, if I go to Netowrk config in KDE, it does nto show new hardware.

I am confused.
Hi everyone,

I know this wireless card is a frequent topic, but I can't seem to find a thread which suits my situation.

I recently installed a fresh copy of Fedora 6.

The network config screen shows my wireless card as inactive.

when clicking activate I get the following error:

Cannot activate network device eth1!

ipw2200 device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

Could anyone give me some ideas suited to my issue? There seems to be an awful lot of threads concerning problems with this wireless card...

Thanks in advance,
