I have a new wide screen LCD monitor and it works fine. However, the extra width just means my display is stretched out.
I want more workable space. How do I go about tackling that?
So things are going pretty well for me, but one thing that is annoying me is that I have a 7 button mouse and only seem to be able to use 3 of the buttons (right and left click and scroll wheel). I am not sure how I go about setting commands to the other buttons, but a forward and back for web browsing, and a hot-key for the bash would both be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.
HI

I have found this software http://freej.org/ that I think is great. I would like to use this with a composite signal from my dvd player on my laptop. I bought a hauppauge wintv pvr usb2 card, which works great with mythtv, mplayer and vlc. But I can't make freej open the stream. I think the issue might be that the driver is partially v4l2, although I am no expert on this. Any suggestions to a usb card that I can use that will work with this program?

Alternatively, do you know some software that can mix several video layers and make scriptable animations that would work with the stream from the hauppauge usb2 card?

Thank you
VIA This Webpage

As the topic states, I have an HP printer (HP 1210) hooked up to my windows xp box via USB and I have samba setup to share this printer in linux through the network.

Only problem was, I couldn't print anything from it from linux. The printer would act like it was going to start to print, but then it would just stop. The print queue had a document called "remote downlevel document" and it would just sit there until I shut off the printer and deleted the job.

So, after googling for a little bit on how to correct this, I found the solution:

Quote:On the Win XP machine, open printers and faxes, right click the icon for theshared printer, select properties. On the ports tab of the properties dialogue

, select the port with the shared printer and deselect "Enable bi-directional

support". That should fix it.

And it did fix it! I was so excited! This has been a problem since the beginning for me. It was nice to know that it was just as easy as disabling the "bi-directional support".

I hope this can help other people along the way too.
Well I got a Sony DSC-W30 a few weeks ago and I knew most sony's will be seen as like sd? drives in linux. So using 2.6.15 I plug it in and it sees the camera just not the card.

So how did i fix it.. well i looked at the kernel changelog and found its supported in 2.6.17 so if you have issues with getting the camera to work in linux.. run 2.6.17 and you should be good to go
I've been trying for a while now to set up the multimedia keys with lineak or just even using XMMS built in support but nothings worked. I used the command in the terminal "showkey" which allows me to see what the key codes are for each keys pressed, but when I put them in the xmms plugin and enabled the plugin, they didn't work.

I just want to be able to use my media keys, Play/Pause, Next and Back on any music player (preferably Rhythmbox)

I'm using Fedora Core 5.

Thanks.
I'm not sure if this is possible, but its my last solution. I have a very old printer that I want to run on linux (FC5) if it is possible that is. This run's fine on XP, but unfortuneately, I just can't find any linux drivers for this.

I've read a bit about wine (don't still fully understand it, but getting there ) and it sort of runs xp inside linux right? Well if that's so, is it possible to run xp inside linix to run this printer?

If not, any possible solution around it?

Thanks
I'm curious as to what everyone likes for a printing system. I dont know much/anything about it though. I know that cups is the old timer for linux but I was thinking that there were other options. I'd like to know what other options there are, their pros and cons..etc..
