Just thought it may be an idea to clean out the forum with users less than a x number of posts

and that haven't been active for over a year. So the accounts don't get abused

and that you'll have more of an overview of the more active users. Just an idea?
I just created a favicon for sister site Windows-Noob, because I noticed it was still using the default IPB favicon.

Here on the Linux side of things, we've traditionally had a set of favicons for many different distros which would rotate.

While the changing favicon is a cool idea, I like to keep sites in my bookmarks bar and quickly identify and access them by the favicon, and the L-N one does tend to change frequently so it's not as obvious which one it is.

I'd like to suggest moving to a single favicon so the site has a single visual identity when shown in bookmarks bars and so on, so I put together this 'hatch' design (based on the same Creative Commons G2 Tux images used in the header).

What do people think?

hi guys,

as most of you know I started this site some years ago to help others learn about linux, it has grown but very slowly,

i think it needs some changes to generate new interest,

I've asked people to write reviews but that was a non-starter, I ended up writing many reviews over the years, but really it needs someone elses opinion and not just mine, I've asked people to post news, but that doesn't seem to happen on a regular basis

I added a blog, no one cared, i updated the site to make it cool, no one cared.. I'm trying but maybe i'm trying the wrong way, so I need your help to guide me to the right way.

so, what can we do to improve things ? tell ME what to do to make this place better, or shall we just be content with 3 or so posts a week...

I would appreciate your thoughts

cheers
And it got me thinking, they list 20 excellent "Linux New Year's Resolutions" but why stop where they did? They wrote "Please do comment if you have a Linux resolution suggestion." I think we should fill that page this resolution suggestions and maybe the list will have some sort of impact on the development of the latest Linux distros., couldn't hurt right?

Currently nVidia seems to be paying more attention to the beta 180.11 driver, which only supports the newest nVidia video cards, when many more people are waiting for a stable 173.14.15 driver to be released. Even I can't use my fairly new MSI nVidia GeForce FX 5200, on Ubuntu 8.10, because the driver doesn't have a stable version that supports the newest Kernel and Xorg.

So please post your name here(and maybe a comment) as sort of a petition to try and get nVidia more focused on the driver that millions of Linux users have politely been doing without.
IMO changing the forum headings to use upper and lower case would make a huge difference to how the forums are presented, at the moment the forums look like user posts and some of the titles should be shortened with the descriptions underneath, would look a lot better if they looked like this:
Is the time right on the forums?

When it says it is 12:48 on the forums it says on my computer 12:07.

It may just be me but i do look at the time users post and it would be helpful to know when they were posted exactly.

Thanks
Anyweb, i was thinking that it would be a great idea to allow people to connect to Efnet/#linux-noob from the forum/website. I really don't know what you would use to accomplish this project, but am sure that it would create more traffic and users in the channel!!
