RetroPie allows you to turn your Raspberry Pi, ODroid C1/C2, or PC into a retro-gaming machine.

I've been playing around with playdeb.net, a way of downloading and installing games via a one-click method.

If you follow the instructions, either:

configure your repos and install the GPG key

install a .DEB package containing all the repo information

... then any game on that site can be played with the "install it now" button at the bottom of each screenshot, which seems to launch a browser plugin that calls apt against a specific package.

(I'm not sure how it achieves this - although seeming easy to use, I can't find a way to apt-get any of the games normally.)

Just thought the details may be useful for any Debian/ubuntu users wanting a few games.

I have a GP2x, and I love how easy it is to use a menu with a gamepad to select games! So I though to myself... how about I build a semi-decent computer and hook it up to the TV (which has a VGA port). Here arises my problems. I know somewhat what I want for specs, but what should I be looking for hardware (as in Linux compatibility)? What distro would work best (in your opinion)? And is there a menu program for linux that can run off a USB gamepad?

This is what I want to do. I want to put a ton of games from Doom to Supertux, and some emulators, and then maybe some extra media functions (DVD, MP3, whatever). The menu would have to look decent and be able to execute the program, then reopen itself when the program is closed...

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks
I tried installing SpaceRangers2 DVD using cedega, but it will not start, I assume because of the StarForce dvd protection.

I found a no-cd crack for it on the interweb, but I am concerned about viruses.

Is running a potential-virus under cedega/wine less risky than in windows?

Anyone know where I can find a list of md5/sha1 for virus free cracks (rangers.exe in this case).
Hallo,

We are propably the biggest linux n00bs in holland, thats why we installed a Mandrake Linux Download Edition on our U1 Gameserver.

We also downloaded the so called bf1942 Dedicated server for windows wich is in a .run format

Now we open the console and unpack and run the installation with the following command

sh ./bf1942.run

and this seems to work. After we accept all the stuff it askes we need to insert a direcory

we enter ./home/majin/bf1942 (wich is a directory we allready created)

but there is nothing there.. :/
Games have always been a little bit of a past time for me, however, recently I have not been able to read up on them. I'm looking for some games that will run on a GForce 440 mx 128mb ram.

I'm going to be installing a new Redhat box, probably running Fedora, and I'm interested in finding some new games that will run with the Nvidia chipset, and lookg good.

Current games I own.

Battlefield 1942, <---- Not sure if that runs on *nix or not.

Unreal Tourn. <--- I know it does

Unreal Tourn 2003 <---- I know it does

Warcraft III <---- Not sure

Ghost Recon <---- Not sure

Rainbow Six <---- Not sure

If you know, or have any suggestions I'd like to hear them. o_O
