Cheapest Registrar?
#1

Hey,

I'm curious--does anyone know a really cheap registrar? Or is there some way that I can make my own DNS records and get the website URL working over the internet. Any information that you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Iyce

i use http://www.everydns.net/ to manage my nameservers, after a 20$ donation to them (its free !) you then get the choice to change the ip's within 2 minutes, which i think is fantastic and worth the money

you can register real domain names in several 'cheap' domain registration companies, i think htttp://www.windows-noob.com cost me like 10$

start googling

cheers

cheapest does not always mean the best.. make sure you find one that is ICAN accepted. this means if the register goes out of business the domain is still yours.. if not then you are SOL.. i use godaddy.. i have no complaints

Namecheap

All my domains with free whois guard active in under two minutes. Even supports a free nameserver if you need it. Also very very cheap! and ICANN registered. Also has auto renewal which can come in handy...

actually no.. namecheap is not ICANN accredited they are just a reseller of domain names. I would go with godaddy over namecheap. I've had issues where clients mx records just disappear if you use them for DNS.. they don't follow good dns practices either with updating the serials. Plus there is no tech support phone number for them. its all email and they ( by they i think its 1 guy) takes forever to get back to you sometimes.
