I tried to visit the mentioned website to determine what system the supposed chat system is and it redirected to some advertising.

If this really isn't spam, please explain the problem further, giving as much detail as you can.

Apologies, the old link was redirecting to an advertising page. The new link does appear to be correct, thanks for clarifying.

By the looks of things, you need to install Sun Java to use that site. Which Linux distribution are you running (Ubuntu, Fedora, Xandros etc.)?

(alternatively, these instructions to install Java might help you - http://fosswire.com/2007/10/17/installin...-on-linux/ but they are not specific to your Linux system)

OK, we've now ascertained that the distribution here is Linpus Linux Lite.

The reason the text is not appearing properly on that chat page is likely due to Linpus' default installation of Java being a pure open source version which is not always compatible with all Java applets.

To fix this problem, we need to install the official Java from Sun to replace the existing installation, and the applet should run properly.

I have found this page - http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/09/install...aspire-one.html which details the installation process for Sun Java on Linpus, specifically for the Acer Aspire One.

(The download it links to is http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/A...leId=23102)

Please try that process and report any errors you have back here on this thread.

HTH. :)
