XDMCP - black screen with KDM on Fedora 12
#1

I've setup XDMCP on my fedora 12 laptop.

It uses KDM.

/etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc

[Xdmcp]

Enable=true

Willing=/etc/X11/xdm/Xwilling

Xaccess=/etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess

[security]

AllowRemoteRoot=true

DisallowTCP=false

/etc/kde/kdm/Xaccess (link to the xdm 'xaccess' file) includes:

* CHOOSER BROADCAST

In KDM settings I set it to 'no theme' and 'no custom background' so it's totally plain.

iptables & SELinux are both off. The client & server

are both on the same switch.

I can connect successfully. But all I get is a black screen & an X cursor, never get to see the login prompt. I have no idea why.

Any suggestions?

Nope

SELINUX=disabled is one of the first things I do on my home systems.

I setup XDMCP on my KDE box. When I try connecting with Xming & MobaXterm in windows, I can connect, the X window comes up but it's just black with an "X" mouse cursor.

When I try connecting from a *nix box I get the exact same thing.
