Recently I have installed fedora and cant get connected to internet.

My modem is Generic Softk56 data fax.

how to know that linux is getting my modem or how to configure it?

your probably looking at a winmodem, if you don't know what a winmodem is google it, then visit Linuxant, they have a nice tool that detects your modem and installs the necesary dirvers, download the free version and install it, then check if it worked and if it did go buy the full version because the free version has nasty limitations :(
