apt-get install PHP 4.2.2 :(
#1

Why is this apt-get not up to date. is there a way to fix this? i installed php with PLESK, so i tried to compile the php source but it give me many many errrors.

Apm-get work, but install a <old> version.

the packages that apt-get installed are made by people who dont always have the time to sit there and package the latest version of an application. if you want ease of package management couped with bleeding edge applications, move to gentoo.

Make sure when using apt-get you are only using repositories that are for your distro version. This is a MUST or you can get into trouble mixing version.

Once you know that your distro repositories are correct then you can use

Code:
apt-get update

- This updates your repositories

Code:
apt-get upgrade

- This upgrades your install packages from the "updated" repository list.

Does this help you out?
