I use BitchX because I like console irc clients and I am very comfortable with it. I have used BitchX for about 4.5 years.

I use irssi because a lot of the features that Bx, ircII and Epic supply through scripts, irssi has by default. Irssi's is easy to use and it has excellent scripting and logging capabilities. Using plugins such as scriptassist, I am able to check for new and popular scripts easily as well as keep the scripts that I do use up to date with a single command. Irssi also works well running on remote boxes inside a screen session.
