vnc
#1

Hey guys, I have finally got vnc to work on my suse box. But only if I log in locally.

If I go to my Windows XP home box and try to log in with vncviewer, the viewer just vanishes and goes away.

Then the next time I bring up the viewer, it will try to connect and then show a 'timed out' error.

I have DSL connection, is that fast enough?

Does the graphics on windows box interfere? I have it set a 32bit colors for windows and 24bit on suse. I saw somewhere that this could be a problem.

Also, after the above happends, I will try to log in locally again on suse, and recieve an error stating "cannot initiate another connection" or something like that.

Any ideas or tips would be great. I have pretty good luck until now.

Thanks.

B.

most likely you need to open some ports on your linux box firewall (iptables)

dsl is fast enough

either your linux box, your router or your xp box is blocking the required vnc ports

that's my guess at least

cheers
