I originally thought that XGL was available in suse 10.1, but I've only found it in SLED. Is this included with the free suse 10.1?

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: It's available, but you have to install it from the cd or dvd source through Yast2. I installed mine via the DVD and both xgl and compiz were there. Once you've installed those, you need to open the gnome control panel through the terminal by typing "gnome-control-center" and you'll see the xgl icon. Click on that, click enable 3d desktop, and ... ah, here's a full how to right from novel: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17174.html Just follow this and it will work. Or if you prefer, here's a how to from the jem report: http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/254 |
