Days 24-27
well the days are flying by and i've not got much to report other than one crash, could be my own fault though, i closed the LCD and when I came back to it the machine seemed unresponsive, so I had to do a hard reboot again
not good ! a quick look at dmesg showed some lost data too, and that is definetly not good. Why it froze I don't know, but it did and that's twice now in the trial period.

once back in PCLinuxOS wireless was dead again, I popped back into /etc/rc.d/rc.local and added dhclient to the list of commands so it now looks like this
Quote:#!/bin/sh#
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: rc.local
# X-Mandriva-Compat-Mode
# Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
# Short-Description: Local initialization script
# Description: This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts.
# You can put your own initialization stuff in here if you don't
# want to do the full Sys V style init stuff.
### END INIT INFO
touch /var/lock/subsys/local
modprobe ndiswrapper
i wconfig wlan0 essid wireless key 7177713332
dhclient
i'll do a reboot soon to see if that really works
apart from that nothing to report, PCLinuxOS has definetly grown on me and I like the distro !
today i decided to see if I could listen to radio live, but it was FM104 in Ireland, and I've had problems in the past listening to this in Linux, so I popped over and they actually had a listen.pls file, which opened up straight away with Amarok, no need for any plugin, it just worked.

To test it further I tried the Windows Media player link, and this opened up the mplayer plugin for mozilla which after a delay of what seemed like a minute, started playing the radio, I was impressed !
