Problem Compiling PHP4.3.7
#1

if i try to configure php.4.3.7 .. i get this error after a while

Code:
Configuring extensions
checking for OpenSSL support... yes
checking for pkg-config... no
checking for OpenSSL version... >= 0.9.6
checking for CRYPTO_free in -lcrypto... yes
checking for SSL_CTX_set_ssl_version in -lssl... yes
checking for ZLIB support... yes
checking if the location of ZLIB install directory is defined... no
configure: error: Cannot find libz

if i install zlib:

Code:
[root@localhost php-4.3.7]# apt-get install zlib
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
zlib is already the newest version.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 9 not upgraded.

:( ANY IDEAS??

checking if the location of ZLIB install directory is defined... no

^^^

isnt that what you need to fix

zlib seems to be installed but the dir is not defined

google says

1. Make sure you have zlib and zlib-devel packages installed.

2. Use --with-zlib=/usr

cheers

install zlib-devel

its not looking for the library.. its looking for the headers.. the -devel packages have the headers
