  wouldFC4 support pirsm?
Posted by: Oroshi - 2005-09-22, 08:06 AM - Forum: Fedora Core Release 4 - Replies (1)

Hello,

as i have got Fedora Core 3 on my laptop, so i was thinking about upgrading, but it on dual boot, windows and Fedora. so if i want to upgrade the Fedora as a fresh copy over write the old one without losing the windows. so i think this possble coz it still bootable coz it load grub 1st if i reformat windows then window will be slefish to boot it self not Linux.

okay, Before i do that - I would like to KNOW if it will work on Prism Wireless network (my laptop got that build in) I kept having problem with crappy ndiswapper, it read the access point information fine, when i iwconfigure, some time it conencted fine but mostly it won't connect at all. it annoying me big time. It would be apperactae if you could inform me that will it work on prism wireless on Fedora Core 4 ?

Cheers

  fedora core 4 video
Posted by: anyweb - 2005-09-21, 09:42 PM - Forum: Fedora Core Release 4 - Replies (7)

check it out !

[/url][url=http://video.linux-noob.com/fcr4.wmv]http://video.linux-noob.com/fcr4.wmv

if you get the following error (or similar) in mplayer

'Fatal error!

Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device'

then set the video playback within mplayer's internal preferences from the default of

Quote:xvmc XVideo Motion Compensation
to

Quote:gl2 X11  (OPENGL multiple textures version)

restart mplayer after making changes.

proof below ;)

cheers

  podcast/vidcast favs
Posted by: hijinks - 2005-09-21, 05:38 PM - Forum: General Chat - No Replies

with podcasting just exploding and now people putting out their own little tv like shows the internet is becoming a great place that we have all heard about for the past 5 years.

Here are some of the ones I listen/watch whenever a new episode comes out

podcasts

- diggnation [/url]http://www.diggnation.com

this is the podcast for digg.com done by two guys from the old screensavers.. i actually enjoy this

- TWIT - http://twit.tv

this is a weekly podcast from most of the old guys also from the screensavers. This is listenable.. they like to complain a lot and ramble on.. but it passes the time

video casts

- pure pnage [url=http://purepwnage.com]http://purepwnage.com

haha.. i love this.. they only put out an episode every 2 months or so.. its about the life of a pro-grammer who pwns noobs.. its even better if you've been in the gaming scene for any period of time. one of the best things is when the guy starts to laugh a lot he actually says lol

if anyone has any others add them to the list

fedora 4 update kills xorg ?
Posted by: anyweb - 2005-09-20, 01:49 PM - Forum: Fedora Core Release 4 - Replies (2)

Fedora recently released an update to fix some security problems in xorg amongst other things, unfortunately in doing so they regressed some of the intel drivers thereby producing garbled video for anyone running say intel 915 chipset with intel onboard graphics,

for more info read here

[/url]http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg...ber/010093.html

and for a quick rpm fix download and install these i386 rpm's

[url=http://people.redhat.com/krh/xorg-x11]http://people.redhat.com/krh/xorg-x11

or as root do this

Code:
wget -nd -r -l1 --no-parent -A.rpm http://people.redhat.com/krh/xorg-x11/fc4/ rpm -Uvh xorg*.rpm

kudos to yarddog for the info

cheers
