Updating KDE 3.3 to 3.4 in Mandrake 10.2

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had an issue upgrading KDE 3.3 to KDE 3.4 in Mandrake 10.2 (or LE 2005 whatever you prefer to call it). I am using Konstruct to install the KDE but I get this at the termination of the failed install...

Is this just a server issue? Is there a way around it?

Appreciate any help!

  Only a Southerner.....
Posted by: P38 - 2005-08-16, 01:37 PM - Forum: Jokes - Replies (2)

Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them, you "PITCH" them.

Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."

Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder."

Only a Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is -- as in: "Going to town, be back directly."

Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.

All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.

Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. (And there is no vinegar in the potato salad) If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin!

Only Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20.

Only a Southerner, knows and understands, the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.

No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.

A Southerner knows that "fixin" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.

Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines. We don't do "queues," we do "lines"; and when we're "in line," we talk to everybody!

Southerners never refer to one person as "y'all."

Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them.

Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.

When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!

Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it -- we do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk.

And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say, "Bless her heart" and go your own way.

To those of you who're still a little embarrassed by your Southerness:

Take two tent revivals and a dose of sausage gravy and call me in the morning. Bless your heart!

And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Southernness as a second language!

And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, y'all need a sign to hang on y'all's front porch that reads "I aint from the South but I got here as fast as I could."

Amen.........and bless your heart!!

  Configure and running SSHD
Posted by: pathological - 2005-08-16, 01:01 AM - Forum: Remote Access - Replies (4)

Ok the topic is semi vague. What i want to do is... Obviously run an SSH server on my computer. I am using Mandriva LE 2005. I am using KDE. /bin/bash.

SO i know i have to activate the SSH Daemon to that the server is running from boot. The things i need to know.

Propper paths.

Where will the Home dir be? just /home/(USerName)? or like in a specified location? If i can config this in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file then bonus.

Also what is the command to start/stop.restart? i do not know if the /etc/ssh folder is THE one. like example. appache is /etc/init.d/appache, if i remember correctly. so advise?

Creating the user accounts. Does it just run off the user accounts already created for Linux? if so then i have this one covered.

Some advise and pointers would be much appreciated.

https://www.linux-noob.com/review

http://video.linux-noob.com (hosted elsewhere, currently only vista videos)

[url=http://tutorials.linux-noob.com]http://tutorials.linux-noob.com (under construction)

any other ideas welcome, for example yourname@linux-noob.com email ?

Hello everone,

i am now in Linux for about 3 Years and i never build a kernel on my own.

Now its time to and I wanted to build one. I read a LOT in these Forums and did not find a good and understandable Tutorial for Building my own kernel

(2.6.X)

So i downloaded the kernel from kernel.org (2.6.12.4). Now i wanted to know how

I can simply build a new kernel.

I read that make oldconfig, depends on my existing config and just let me change new things which were added to the new kernel, right ? :)

Please help me with this issue

thank you
