Flash Player 9 for Linux |

Well, Adobe have released Flash Player 9 for Linux - the final version. W00t! :)
It's also reasonably easy to install. Download the .tar.gz version to your desktop, right-click it and click extract here, then run this from a terminal:
Code: su -
cd /home/yourusername/Desktop/install_flash_player_9_linux
./flashplayer-installer
Follow the prompts, restart your browsers and you should have Flash 9 capability!
(Most of the time you can just press Enter when asked about the mozilla directory, but sometimes you'll need to enter /usr/lib/firefox-versionnumber instead of accepting the default).

Hi,
I will give you a brief history of my system. I have an Acer Laptop which had windows xp home edition installed on it, i reformatted this partition and installed pro then i resized the partions making a c and d drive, the d drive being for media files only, i then resized again using partition majik, which i made my d drive larger reduced my c drive and created a Linux partition, i then installed fedora core 6 which went fine but i couldnt boot my windows partition after the install and still cant, i can only mount my d drive with success and not my c drive. Now what i am trying to do is boot from the windows cd so that i can reformated my drive and reinstall windows so that i can try to do a succesfull install of fc6, the windows cd boots but when its checking my hardware configuration it just black screens, the hard drive light stays on forever the cd spins for about 2 minutes and nothing, i cannot use a boot disk as i have no floppy drive is there anything i can do to get this situation sorted as google has not been my friend in this situation. Cheers for taking time to read this.

Hi folks,
OS: Slackware or CentOS
I'm prepared to build an experimental server which includes Apache, PHP, MySQL, Proxy, Sendmail, Firewall, Webmail, etc. No graphic will be run on the server. In order to facilitate searching Internet for advice a workstation shall be connected via router to remote install the packages. The IP for the server will be 192.168.0.10 and for the workstation 192.168.0.11. Basic installation will be made by running the DVD installer download from respective website. Additional to the packages for running the server what other packages are needed for remote installation and for accessing the server to configure all relevant services. Please advise. TIA

Ok. first of all i would like to say ive only tested this on one machine (my own) but hopefully it will work on yours (my machine runs ubuntu).
Description:
We will use a daemon called "webcam_server". This is a simple client although it uses a automatic update process if you are viewing threw a webpage, we will set it up so your page refreshes every few seconds with the updated image.
First of all we need a few things:
Code: apt-get install apache2 (not needed if you have a httpd installed already)
apt-get install php5 (not needed if already installed and configured with your current httpd)
apt-get install libjpeg62
apt-get install libjpeg62-dev
apt-get install libjpeg-progs
rootpasswd
Code: cd /root/
wget http://belnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourcefor...ver-0.50.tar.gz
tar xf webcam_server-0.50.tar.gz
cd webcam_server-0.50
if you receive any errors please investigate. If you receive warnings this is usually okay.
now to get your webcam online so you or friends can view it.
If your htdocs directory is /var/www (default on ubuntu) type
Code: mkdir /var/www/client
Code: cp /root/webcam_server-0.5/src/client/webcam.html /var/www/client/webcam.html
cp /root/webcam_server-0.5/src/client/applet.jar /var/www/client/applet.jar
once done this is the script installed to your web dir then do;
Code: cd /root/webcam_server-0.5/src
./webcam_server -p 10000
open a browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:10000 also checkout http://127.0.0.1/client/Webcam.html/ hopefully you will see a webcam image (hit F5 to refresh)
to make the index.html page of your httpd server the image from the webcam simply make the following index.html file in the /var/www dir
img src ="http://127.0.0.1:10000/" align="center" width="300" height="300">
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3">
This will retrieve the image from the specified ip/port and update every 3 seconds. (change content="3" to a number in seconds you wish the page to update)
always remember to exit your su terminal when done.
Also i would like to thank P38 and Varjagy from #linux-noob on efnet for helping me threw out the night when i was gettin my webcam setup!
I hope this helps feel free to email me if anyone gets stuck lillbastid@gmail.google.com
***Live Demo at http://webcam.digital-users.net/***
p.s yes i know ive spelt "stream" as "steam" but its 00:48am and im tired so sorry! =)
