Hi,
I am trying to install a pop3 server in debian 5. This will fetch the mails from the ISP to the local clients and should forward the mails from the local clients to ISP.
Earlier I have tried with Postfix combination with dovecat and fetchmail. And sometimes They worked too.
If you have any successful installation like this, pls let me know.
With advance thanks,
K.Ramanathan

How to run Windows XP in Fedora |

I wanted to have a Windows virtual machine that I could use on my Fedora 10 laptop, I only have linux on this laptop and i don't want to dual boot,so this required that I install some virtualization packages and to go virtual.
I'm documenting how I did this so others can learn and hopefully they will be motivated to try it themselves. Fedora offers two methods for virtualisation, one is for virtualising Linux (xen) and the other one can do non-Linux os's as well as Linux (qemu). For a detailed and technical wiki on this subject please see here.
1. Install the virtualization packages.
Open a terminal and as root do the following:-
Code: su -c "yum groupinstall 'Virtualization'"
followed by the following optional components:-
Code: yum install gnome-applet-vm
Code: yum install virt-top
2. Start the virtualisation service
as root do as follows
Code: service libvirtd start
then verify it's running
Code: virsh -c qemu:///system list
you should see something like this
Quote:[root@localhost ~]# virsh -c qemu:///system list
Id Name State
----------------------------------
3. Install QEMU
as root do
answer y when prompted

Developer Version of Google Chrome for Linux available |

Quote:In order to get more feedback from developers, we have early developer channel versions of Google Chrome for Mac OS X and Linux, but whatever you do, please DON'T DOWNLOAD THEM! Unless of course you are a developer or take great pleasure in incomplete, unpredictable, and potentially crashing software.
How incomplete? So incomplete that, among other things , you won't yet be able to view YouTube videos, change your privacy settings, set your default search provider, or even print.
Meanwhile, we'll get back to trying to get Google Chrome on these platforms stable enough for a beta release as soon as possible!
At the moment, there are only .deb packages available (for x86 and x86-64), but if you have a Debian or Ubuntu installation, you should check out this really quite speedy new browser.

Set up a simple forwarding-only DNS server |

I have absolutely no experience with DNS servers. I understand the principles behind DNS, but the perceived 'scariness' of configuring bind and different zones and such is quite a big issue.
I did want to do some experimentation with DNS servers, though, and I've found a very useful and simple tutorial to set up a simple 'forwarding only' server.
The tutorial is designed for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (and written by Red Hat), so it worked exactly as in the tutorial when I followed it on my CentOS 5.3 system.
