I'm using SuSE Pro 9.2 on my desktop. Linux recognizes the adaptor, but so far I am unable to make a connection with it. What does it take to configure Bluetooth so that I can actually use it. Please keep in mind that I am very new to linux and will need step by step type instructions. I will greatly appreciate any help I can get....

| D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 |

Following on from this post (yes, it was successful), I am now trying to help a friend set up his wireless network on SUSE Linux 10 on an IBM Thinkpad. Having never done any wireless network stuff before (don't have a laptop), I don't know what to do to get the card to work. I have searched around and heard of ndiswrapper, but I have no idea how this works/how to set it up. I have also been doing extensive Googling to no avail.
Judging by the problems anyweb had with SUSE 10, I don't think I can do this myself.
The card is a PCMCIA D-Link DWL-G650+ AirPlusG+ CardBus Wireless LAN and it works perfectly on Windows XP. I have tried removing and adding the card from YaST2's LAN module numerous times with different settings to no avail. The card doesn't even light up in Linux. Here is the result of ifconfig:
Code: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0A:E4:3A:51:73 inet6 addr: fe80::20a:e4ff:fe3a:5173/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:98 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:98 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:7478 (7.3 Kb) TX bytes:7478 (7.3 Kb)
Any help on this would be a great help, and thanks in advance.

if you get the following type of errors after an update in FCR5t2
Quote:The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_BattstatApplet". Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration ?
then as root do as follows (note it is one line, not two)
Code: for f in /usr/lib*/bonobo/servers/*.server; do sed -ie 's|$(LIB)|$LIB|' $f; done
more info here
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-deve...y/msg00903.html
restart X or restart the computer to see the fix.

Is there any commands to remotely execute a batch file on another machine in the network?
like say I wanted to open like note pad or execute any number of batch files on another computer on the network, what would be the command and parameters before "open notepad" ?

hi @ all,
i'm testing FCR5 t2, and now gaim refuses to work, when i click on the icon it starts the usual routine and just when it says 'retrieving buddy list' it crashes (disappears)
starting it in a console (terminal) i can see the following:-
Code: [anyweb@localhost ~]$ gaim

gaim worked just fine up until yesterday and the only things that changed were two large yum updates
gaim starts just fine as root, but of course I don't want to use it as root.

cheers
