  Fedora 11 on EeePC1000
Posted by: Charles Anthony - 2009-10-17, 06:12 PM - Forum: Wireless - Replies (1)

My Fedora installation no longer detects automatic wireless networks. A little network icon appears in the notification area and usually a drop-down list indicates all of the available wireless access points. Now, none of that appears. The only thing that appears now is "Wired Network" greyed out in the drop-down menu. If I plug in an ethernet cable, it detects it automatically.

I am a little lost on how where to go from here.

ETA:

Solved with Fn + F2 keys.

A guy and his wife go to the drs to talk about him not getting it up any more, the pills ain't working......so the dr says well we now do an opp its completely new where we attach a baby elephants trunk and make that work as your penis, so the old boy reluctantly gets his old man sorted and he gets it done but they are told they have got to wait until its all better, well they were going to a family function some time later but still under orders!

In the mean time at the do his wife cant hold back and gets it out under the table.......and about that time they then come round with their meals but just as the guy starts to eat his dinner an elephants trunk pops up and grabs a potato.....shocked by that, all the family stop eating......

Then the guys mother-in-law says did I just see that ? the guy says yes, I just had an opp to make my penis work again and thats what they used to fix it, but, she then says can I see it again and the guy says I guess so but I don't know if I can take another potato up my arse!

This is an old joke for me and after reading loads of yours I figured it was time for one of mine!

At school the kids are asked to use the word contagious in a sentence... so who can tell me the teacher asks

The first kid says I had chicken spots and I had to stay away from others because it was contagious. very good the teacher replied

The second kid said my mom's a nurse and she said there were people at the hospital who have to be in separate rooms sometimes because the are contagious. that's great the teacher replies

The third child to answer said painting a fence with a small brush

Puzzled, how asked the teacher.

Well my dad said our neighbour was painting their fence with a little brush and he said that's going to take that silly contagious.

  Hello from Nycatle

Hi to you all, I'm new to this so be gentle with me! I'm not that PC literate so I hope to learn as I go and you may see my asks a bit daft at times doh. I explained this to anyweb (top man) being a Mechanic I can only see the PC as a whole "like an engine" so like I said my questions may sound odd.

Then what's it all about? how do these engines work can you make one big script to do it all and if so how? This OS is Ubuntu Ibex and I must say it is mint for a noob, easy to install and it kicks Windows butt B)

Any pointers would be gratefully accepted and constructive criticism welcome.

Hey enough from me but its good to be here and lots to read the site and your info has helped so much already. Sadly you cant help my spelling and typos!

Ubuntu's Karmic Koala opens its eyes
Posted by: hybrid - 2009-10-01, 05:49 PM - Forum: Linux News - No Replies

Quote:Nothing quite says Autumn like the arrival of a fresh crop of Linux distros. Well, for Linux fans anyway. As usual, both Fedora and Ubuntu are gearing up for new releases, with the Ubuntu crew already pushing out the first betas of Ubuntu 9.10, dubbed Karmic Koala.

Although Ubuntu 9.10 is only a beta release and still needs a bit of polish, there's plenty to love even in the testing release.

How do I completely remove Wine?
Posted by: Bakshara - 2009-09-30, 03:11 AM - Forum: How Do I? - Replies (34)

I updated to Wine 1.1.30 from 1.1.24. Then when I tried to run files I had ran previously, like APPLEWIN.EXE, I got a tiny dialogue that said, "Wine File" "Error" and an "OK" button. So I uninstalled Wine 1.1.30 and installed Wine 1.1.29. Same error. I uninstalled that and reinstalled Wine 1.1.24. Same error. I uninstalled that and downloaded Wine 1.0.1, because it was labelled "Stable:" Same error.

How do I get rid of Wine entirely so I can go back to Wine 1.1.24 and not have that "Wine File" "Error" mess and operate all the programs I was able to operate previously?

Thanks in advance!

Gimp 2.8 To Get Single Window Mode
Posted by: anyweb - 2009-09-27, 07:08 AM - Forum: Linux News - No Replies

Gimp critics will have one less thing to complain about when Gimp 2.8 is released later this year. Single window mode is coming with the next major release along with some other interesting UI enhancements.
